CE Winds Studio Series NewYork Edition Alto Saxophone

Introduction
This week I visited our friends at CE Winds (Florida) and had the chance to try out many of their saxophones. This young company started selling student horns in 2007 and has definitely stepped up with their newer instruments.
The instrument that caught my attention the most was their Studio Series New York Edition, which is manufactured in Taiwan for them.
Appearance
This saxophone is absolutely beautiful. It features a hot satin black nickel body & polished black nickel bell flare and key work, over premium brass alloy.
Sound & Intonation
The sound of the instrument is a bit dark but still powerful. The instrument did not have the pro setup, which they offer for an additional fee, but still played very nice & easy. The intonation was also pretty good & even throughout the entire range. The G# key needed a little adjustment, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed.
Construction & Ergonomics
Like most horns built in Taiwan they are solid and well built. It was comfortable and wasn’t too heavy (5.6 Lbs.). The spring action felt a little tight for my preference.
Some of the features include Grey Abalone Pearl Key Touches, Pisoni Chrome Resonator Pads, Briefcase styled Locking ABS Case & Blue Steel Springs.
Overall Experience
I believe this is one of the best instruments I have played for the price ($1,249). The standard setup may not be suitable for everyone right out of the box. If you are a professional gigging player, you must request them to do a pro-setup.
