  What are yout top 3 favorite solos? Why?
  
  My top 3: (Not in a specific order)
  
  Artist: Billy Joel
  Song: Just the Way you Are
  Sax Player: Phil Woods
   

  Artist: George Michael
  Song: Careless Whispers
  Sax Player: Steve Gregory
  
  Artist: Earth Wind & Fire
  Song: After the Love Has Gone
  Sax Player: Don Myrick
  
  Why? These solo'smay not be the most complex, but after hearing them once, they stuck with me forever. That is what I believe that makes them so great. (My personal opinion)

  I have a few that i like very much.
  
  Gerald albrights solo in Phil collins "against all odds"
  
  Kirk whalums solo in Whitney houstons "the body guard"
  
  Kirk whalum solo in the song titled "FALLING IN LOVE WITH JESUS"by Johnatan Butler in the album "The gospel according to jazz" part 2.
  
  why?these sax solos are not very difficult,rather with lots of feel and heart into them.When i here themi get goose bumps!!

  1) Coleman Hawkins - Body & Soul

  2) Lester Young - I Got Rhythm

  3) Charlie Parker - Lover Man

  4) Dexter Gordon - Darn That Dream

  5) John Coltrane - Giant Steps

  6) Michael Brecker - Delta City Blues

   

  Optional. Just the Two of Us (Grover Washington, Jr.) it is because I like him too much lol ;)

   

  I should also have included Art Pepper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH9eYg_cp3o just before Michael Brecker... now it is complete! :)

   

  I know they are more than three... but... there was no choice they represent the saxophone jazz history. Some are solo on ballads, they are the most wonderful because they come from the deepest part of the soul...
