Hello mysaxtalk!
I know that many of you play multiple instruments. I created this forum called "Doubling". Please feel free to share any information or ask questions.
I would like for all of you to share which other instruments other than saxophone you play??
My Main instrument is alto sax, but i also play tenor and soprano. I studied flute in college but have not practiced it in a while. I also play some keyboards and do pretty well with MIDI programming.
So your turn now! What other instruments do you play?
hi,
i am playing saxophones from sopranino to baritone, but in a few different styles. sopranino as well as soprano in a renaissance music ensemble, sometimes the bari ( pierret 1920ies) as lowest voice in some monteverdi pieces( double choir, the bass trombone friend ist the other bassman ... )
alto and tenors in the alldays work( 1920ies to mid 1960ies horns from pierret and grassi), but for soloing in performances with literature readings and any similar projects i like the soprano: straight, curved and modded saxello...
clarinet and bassclarinet only when the payment is good !
:-D
plase let me know if you want to know which combination of instruments, mouthpieces and the other gear works good - would that be a new thread ?
I currently play soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax, flute and sing. My first instrument was the clarinet. And, I play "moderate" piano, which means I'm not that great lol. The only time I play piano is in church for my praise team, or once with a band where I was just playig the strings.
I'm playing Alto and Soprano at the moment but will be playing Tenor soon (I'm saving up for one now). I don't consider one sax as being "double" to another. I play them all equally. I play an open-hole Flute if and when the show calls for it. I don't "play" Piano but I know how to use it. It comes in handy for all things music.
I've played Tenor and Bari on and off over the course of my life. However, I do double on electric Bass. 4 and 5 strings and fretless. It's an entirely seperate world but having a working knowledge of it does help with horn playing.
The Saxophone(s) are number 1 of course but the Bass comes in a close 2nd.
