I set it next to a Mark VI that a friend of mine owns. They are almost identical in construction... Mine is lighter... They both sound about the same. In the end, I believe, that a vintage horn is just an old horn. When they are discontinued, it's a lot harder to get parts and the original parts will wear out. I'm just sayin'....

As time goes on technology improves on saxophone design, intonation improves and ergonomics improve creating greater facilitation of technique. Granted anyone can play any horn with practice, but do I have time to spend 8 hours learning a hard solo piece on a vintage horn or 4 hours on a modern horn. With a modern horn I don't fight the horn it just plays and I can focus on the music.
