     I began playing an alto sax as most people do but soon found out that when playing with a keyboard and guitar led band, I had to transpose everything.
     And that was fine until They began writing the songs on the guitar and using the key of E a lot. It transposes to C# major, my least favourite key on the sax.
    I wondered why they didn't make saxes in the key of C?  Then found out they did and they were very popular in the 1920s.

    I bought one and found they were not only more fun with the guitar band but the sound range gave an ability to sound either like a tenor or an alto with only one sax. So I got some new ones made and sell them online.

      I wanted to p...  more      Steve, my story is a bit different. While growing up, I played for many years the recorders in a group that played ancient instruments (harpsichord, recorders, etc.). Then I moved to a different town and had no music in my life for 20 years.
      I wanted to play the saxophone, but the transposing part was a concern. Then I found out about the C-melody sax, bought one and fell in love with it. Now it is my main saxophone, although I also play a C-soprano, the tenor and the alto.
